Anne Warburton - Artist Statement

Anne Warburton is a fibre artist who transforms repurposed materials and fabrics into dynamic, textural compositions. She draws inspiration from the lines and forms of nature, connecting with her subject through layering fabrics and materials, sewing, then transforming with slashing, deconstructing and heat distressing to reveal hidden depths. Final steps may include painting, monoprinting, shaping, stitching and embellishment, highlighting the beauty of her materials and their connection to the natural world.
Anne has participated in two artist residencies, having twice attended DRAW (Dumoine River Art for Wilderness residency), held her first solo show in 2021, and participates in several art shows each year. Her background in expressive arts therapies enriches her practice, connecting creativity and nature to self-discovery and personal growth. She has served as chair of Out of the Box Fibre Artists, teaches fibre art and gelli printing workshops, and founded Fibre 15, a collective fostering artistic collaboration.
